This is the first post in my Homemaking 101 series. I realized after a bit of research that the word homemaker is not a common word today. I was really surprised by this as it is a part of my everyday life and I feel like it is one of the most important rolls in society. We are raising the future. We are meeting our husbands (or wives) needs so they can leave and work. We make sure the home runs smooth. We make the house into a home. We are the back bone of the family!!! [Read more…]
We all struggle from time to time with contentment. A feeling like there is something missing from your life. I personally struggle with this, I feel like I need more clothes when my closet is full of them. I need a new kitchen gadget or my life would be perfect if I could just get a camper and a puppy ;). When I feel this way I take a step back and realize that these things aren’t what is missing what is missing is a strong relationship with God. [Read more…]

It is essential to use prayer to fight your daily even mundane battles. I didn’t always know this I struggled everyday with most things and didn’t rely on god to fight my battles. That was a big mistake it is so much easier going through life with god. What helped me get through my struggles when changing a habit or schedule was making a point to pray before I did anything and everything. I found that I was able to push through that task most of the time with a very eager heart. It helped me associate what I was doing was for god.
When doing housework or parenting or anything really you should be doing it for god. I find when I do it for god I feel so much more happy about doing the task at hand. Remember “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13”. If I need motivation or patience, or even some grace I just go to a quite place and pray until I feel ready. If I’ve been too hard on my kids and yelled and I need forgiveness to help my mood so I don’t stay in a bad mood the whole day. If I need to do the dishes but I just feel like sitting and looking at Facebook. If my kids are being wild when we are doing our homeschooling work and I might just fly off the handle.
I used to think things like this weren’t important enough to pray about like in the bible everything was really struggles. As I have grown in my strength I have learned that god wants us to lean on him even with the little stuff. Let god help you get through you day, when in doubt pray it out.
