Homemaking motivation for when you feel like, “I Really Just Can’t!!!”
I’m always trying to find homemaking motivation for even the small tasks. It is so overwhelming sometimes as a mom whether you stay home, work, work from home, homeschool, or any combination of these. Its easy to get behind on one chore or task and that spiral in to feeling of chaos and lots of anxiety. From my experience this can create a vacuum effect on the couch and it next to impossible to move an inch. I often feel this way but I have learn a few tricks to help me move past this. However I have a lot of work to do myself and some days I still feel like I just cant seem to move. So before you succumb to the chaos and anxiety, and you feel like, “I really just can’t” try these tricks.
Ask God to help you with whatever feeling you are having and to help you do better at what ever task you are dreading. Ask Him to help you find Joy in the everyday tasks that you struggle with. Also remember you are doing everything for him and not man and he finds worth in you and in everything that you do.
#2 Do Not Lay Down!!!
Laying down or sitting some place where you could lay down is excepting your fate. It is much harder to get up and do things you don’t want to when you are comfy laying down.
#3 Drink water
Being dehydrated will cause you to be tired and unmotivated. Making sure to drink enough water is very important to keep moving.
#4 Have a cup of coffee
Drink a cup of coffee at the kitchen table while doing number 5 on this list. By the time you are done you will feel the effects of the caffeine and be ready to get moving.
#5 Find inspiration
Look for inspiration in magazines, Pinterest, YouTube, or your favorite blog. This will look different for everyone but for me if I am needing to get cleaning done I might specifically search for, “how to clean your oven” or on YouTube, “speed clean my kitchen with me” . YouTube has awesome videos of people cleaning their homes that I feel motivated by. Set a limit. For example I give my self two searches, two videos or two articles to read that way I don’t sit there for an extending period of time.
#6 Put on some up beat music
Positive up beat music just puts you in a happy mood and really just makes you want to move around. Especially if I’ve had a cup of coffee.
#7 Invite over a friend
This step only works for a cleaning task and if you invite over a friend you wouldn’t feel comfortable with having a messy house.
#8 Rearrange furniture or redecorate.
Sometimes I will feel like the house is stale. So I will just move one color scheme to another room to switch things up. This usually starts a spiral effect that involves me cleaning much more than I planned.
If you have tried to go through these homemaking motivation tips and you still feel a vacuum pull to the couch and fell like, “I Really Just Cant” it could mean a couple things. First are you really trying to get of the couch and get something done? Second do you have a medical condition that is preventing you from getting the tasks done mentally or physical? If you do and have not sought out medical attention you should do so. You may have a condition that can only be solved by a doctor. I am anemic and have severe anxiety. I don’t take medication for my anxiety but I actively try to cope with it and most days I’m ok. As far as my anemia if I don’t stay on top of that I will be so exhausted I cant even move. I take a liquid Iron supplement that helps me keep my iron levels up. Once you identify your underlying cause it will be easier to deal with. I hope these tricks will help motivate you to get going.
