Ingredients to Avoid
I am going to explain why eating clean is important and ways to start on your path to living healthy. I explained what clean eating is now let talk about why its so important. I mentioned that our kids generation will be the first to have a shorter average life span than their parents. This fact is important to state for obvious reasons but lets look at why. Obesity is not the only reason. You can be skinny and un healthy. You can appear skinny and your body fat percentage could be the same as someone much larger than you. We don’t want to just be skinny that is not our goal. Our goal is to be healthy and to live a long life. Lets talk about why these boxed foods are so bad. First I would like to explain that they have to pump large amounts of preservatives in these food to make them last a long time and they use artificial flavors to enhance the taste. when they say something is sugar free or fat free how do you think they are making it taste good after removing these things? Well I will tell you; They add more fat or more sweetener its never a good idea to purchase these Items. If you are going to buy something like this just buy the regular kind. This is a list of ingredients that are added to these foods that are very harmful.
-Artificially sweeteners “Aspartame” also known at NutraSweet or Equal: This is a neurotoxin and cariogenic it will erode intelligence and affect short-term memory. It may lead to a wide variety of ailments including brain tumor, diseases like lymphoma, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue, emotional disorders like depression and anxiety attacks, dizziness, headaches, nausea, mental confusion, migraines and seizures. This is found in diet or sugar free sodas, diet coke, coke zero, jello (and over gelatins), desserts, sugar free gum, drink mixes, baking goods, table top sweeteners, cereal, breath mints, pudding, Kool-Aid, ice tea, chewable vitamins, toothpaste. As you can see it is everywhere.
-High Fructose Corn Syrup is a highly-refined artificial sweetener that is found in most all processed foods and it is the number one caloric source in America. What is this bad? Well not only does this ad in weight gain and cause tissue damage but is will increase your LDL (or bad cholesterol), and will help along the diabetes domino effect. High fructose corn syrup can be found in most processed foods, breads, candy, flavored yogurts, salad dressings, canned vegetables, cereals.
-Trans fats: These are one of the most dangerous substances you can consume. they are used to extend the shelf life of products. These will raise your bad cholesterol and lower your good cholesterol as well as increases the risk of heart attacks, heart disease and strokes. Also adding increased inflammation and diabetes. These can be found in margarine, chips and crackers, baked goods, fast foods.
Those are just a few of the bad thing found in these bad foods here is a list of some other very harmful ingredients to watch out for.
-Sodium Nitrate/Sodium Nitrite
-BHA and BHT
-Propylene glycol alginate
There are so many more but these are all I will talk about today.
Here Is your tip to start on your healthy living journey and get away from these harmful ingredients. When you are in the grocery store try to buy three quarters of your food on the outside walls avoiding most of the isles. There are a few things you will need in the isles and some that are healthy but look at the ingredients list. Are any of the items I talked about in this post found on that list? If yes then put it back a find something as a replacement. If your family is extremely resistant to this try to at least replace one even two foods every week with a healthy alternative.
