Clean eating – Navigating the grocery store
Navigating the grocery store when you are new to clean eating can be a tricky task. Here are some tips that will help you wade through the garbage finding good foods quickly.
First, depending on your store you will have more or less options when it comes to having healthy foods. Lets base this off of Schnucks I think they are middle of the road when it comes to finding more healthy foods. Your main goal is to only get items on the outer wall and be very selective when going through the isles. Try to stick with foods that are not in boxes and mostly focus on those base foods. Base foods being whole grains, fruits, vegetables, low processed meats, nuts, etc… This may seem simple to you or maybe not but this information helped me out greatly when I was making the trasistion to the clean side :). As far as other foods that you may want that aren’t nessasarily in the category that I mentioned read the lables and try to get items with as little ingredients as possible. The goal is 5 or less ingredients and stick with the ingredients you can read or recognize their names.
